Hi, my name is Jennifer Hak, 27. I grew up in a Cambodian community for the first 19 years of my life. Being in this environment, I felt a sense of belonging. It was so different when I transferred to a more diverse school district. I felt weird and out of place, but when I came home, I felt like I fit in.

I am currently in school studying Criminal Justice. I am a 4.0 student. I see myself doing something within the law field upon graduation. I don’t model professionally, however, I will be a contestant for the upcoming Miss Cambodian-American pageant in Lowell, Massachusetts.

My role models are my parents because they came from Cambodia to the U.S. with nothing and made sure I had food in my stomach and clothes on my back.

I love to eat! That is my favorite hobby. My favorite is Asian food.

What I like most about Khmerican is its content diversity. It shows Khmer Americans from all over the States with different professions and interests.

I have never been to Cambodia but I would be excited to see Angkor Wat. I want to also go to Battambang where my parents grew up. Ten years from now I hope to be successful in whatever I put my mind to. I know that’s not specific, but I’m still embracing my journey and figuring out what I want in life.
