Guitana B. Sath

This is me, Guitana B. Sath. My name is original on it’s own–derived by the combination of three Cambodian meanings of kindness, fire and compassion. I am a second generation Cambodian American studying graphic design at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) and is scheduled to graduate this Spring.

Entering 2015, I discovered that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. A week after surgery I insisted on going back to school because I felt that cancer shouldn’t stop you from living your life to the fullest and reaching your goals.

As a Cambodian American, I wear my heart and culture on my sleeve. I was born and raised in Lowell, MA where community is the key to happiness. My father Bunrith Sath is one of the most active Cambodian community members I have ever known through his involvement in managing his own TV and radio show and hosting and planning various community events. Being Khmer is a blessing and it has influenced my every day life as an artist and person.
