I am very blessed and truly grateful to have my mom in my life. My mom escaped the Khmer Rouge with her parents, sisters, and the rest of our family to America.
Our family was sponsored and settled in Los Angeles where I was born. She overcame many obstacles adjusting to America, but she was able to receive her U.S. citizenship and a permanent full-time job. I am so happy that everything came full circle and life got better for her.
I can remember when I was a little girl growing up in California. My mom worked hard, always had dinner ready, juggled the house chores, raised her kids, and instilled in us to never forget our Khmer roots.
My mom’s selflessness, love, and compassionate heart always shines through in everything she does and whoever she meets. My mommy has a heart of gold. She is a role model to me and I hope one day to be a great mom to my kids. This day is a tribute to you and everything you do: my modern day Cambodian American Super Mom. I love you mommy! Happy Mother’s Day.
