Favorite quote about being a mom:

“If you can’t go back to your mother’s womb, you’d better learn to be a good fighter.” -Anchee Min

Q: What’s your favorite part about being a Cambodian mom?

Banks: Everything, especially the adoring looks my son still gives me, gives me the warm and fuzzy feeling! Also seeing him explore the world and teach something new every day. My son is 22 years old and right after high school he decided to join US Army. He is in a special unit and the Army has changed him completely from a boy to a responsible young man. He told me one day that he wishes to do what I do and follow in my footsteps. As a career woman in the field that I am in, it’s not an easy feeling to know that my son will face so many challenges in his future with a career in public services. However, I know I have raised him good and strong, mentally and physically. I do enjoy being mom, the challenges, the heartache, and the headache like every mother out there, but most of all I enjoy the fruits of my labor.
