Humans of Khmer America

“I’ve been involved with the Digital Storytelling in Asian American Studies Project at UMass Boston since 2012. But for the past year, I have been working as the publicity coordinator for our AANAPISI collaboration with two community colleges in California doing outreach, documentation, and archiving. Our stories are important when we share with one another because it allows us the space to heal individually and collectively, especially in our community where there has been a lot of silencing. When these stories are archived and the archive grows, this allows us the opportunity to advocate for our community through the voices of our community, not the narrative that is used in the mainstream to define us. Our stories are very important and critical for change.”
